About Dahl Dance Center

about us « home

Dahl Dance Center is a recreational and competitive ballroom dance and fitness studio located in Rochester, Minnesota. The studio’s founders were inspired by a passion for dance and a desire to better educate the Rochester community on the joys of partnership dancing while instilling a love and appreciation for movement.

Our student’s come in all shapes, sizes and ability levels and we aim to provide a satisfying dance experience in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. We believe in giving each student a strong foundation for their dance education, making sure each concept is understood before the introduction of new material. DDC students are welcome in any environment as the best social dancers in Rochester and are recognized nationally on the competitive circuit for their beautiful lines and solid technical understanding

Gary Dahl – Co- owner, Instructor, Associate USISTD
Gary represents Dahl Dance on the competitive circuit with his amazing students. He can be seen at almost every major competition in the United States and he enjoys every minute of dancing! Gary has over 15 years experience in Ballroom and Latin dance, American and International styles, and loves working with the students who like the engineering side of dance (He’s a former IT specialist). Beginners benefit from his clear presentation of the “nuts and bolts” of good dancing. He has been a guest instructor with USA Dance locally and can often be seen out on the social dance floor – Gary loves to meet new people! In his free time, Gary enjoys golf, engineering new inventions, spending time with his family and the occasional Xbox match up with other Halo addicts in the dance world!

Carolyn Chan - Bfitness Dance Instructor

Carolyn grew up in Houston, Texas where she began dancing at age ten.  She has experience in modern, jazz, tap, ballroom, and character, but her passion is ballet.  She attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah pursuing a degree in Media Art, but found herself consistently attached to the dance studio.  After performing with BYU Theatre Ballet and DanceEnsemble, teaching and accompanying ballet classes, and directing dance and film/technology projects, she graduated in 2005 with a B.A. in Dance:Ballet Emphasis and Media Art Studies.  Carolyn is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and outside of the studio she enjoys teaching piano lessons, caring for her two little boys, and camping with her family.

James Geroux- Argentine Tango

James joins the DDC team from the Rochester Tango Society.  As a founding member, he worked on creating the structure and educational opportunities presented monthly for the tango community. James continues to serve on the board as treasurer and is looking forward to introducing the DDC student body to the excitement of Tango. He enjoys dancing with his wife and two children and a good game of golf when he gets the chance!
